Charlie the Basset Hound
Our Klip Joint dog of the week is Charlie, a very loving basset hound. Charlie likes to come in regularly for a bath and toenail trim.
Basset Hounds have smooth, short, hard-textured coats that are relatively easy to take care of, although they shed a lot.
Basset Hounds have large pendulous ears (known as “leathers”) that do not allow air to circulate inside them, like other breeds with erect or more open ears. This can result in infections and ear mites if their ears are not kept clean and dry. If their ears are allowed to dangle on the ground or in food on a daily basis, they may develop chronic and potentially fatal ear diseases. Their ears should be checked and wiped clean with a damp cloth at least once a week.
Short or tall – we love them all at Klip Joint Dog Grooming!
