From mud puppy to doggy diva

Molly lying downThis is Molly, our Klip Joint Doggy Diva of the week. But don’t let her classy look fool you. She loves to roll in the mud and dirt when her mommy isn’t looking! Her silky Shih Tzu fur would be very matted if she didn’t make regular trips to Klip Joint Dog Grooming for a bath and brush.

Here are a few tips to help prevent matting and keep your Shih Tzu looking beautiful between trips to the groomer:

  • Comb and brush your Shih Tzu at least every other day
  • Use a detangling spray or a mix of water & conditioner to moisten the coat prior to brushing
  • Use a metal comb, a slicker brush, and a pin brush (without balled ends)
  • To effectively brush your Shih Tzu’s hair, lift up the top layer and brush the hair closest to the skin first, then brush and comb the outer layer
  • First, use a slicker brush to brush out your Shih Tzu, then, use a wide-toothed comb to get rid of any hair that was left behind

With regular maintenance, your Shih Tzu can be a Doggy Diva, just like Molly.
