Dogs can be more aggressive when in pain

08/14/2012

I found this story today about dogs in pain being more aggressive. In this article they mention large dogs with hip dysplasia becoming more aggressive as the disease progresses and they experience more pain. http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2012/06/120613102132.htm

At Klip Joint Dog Grooming we have noticed another common cause for pain and aggression in dogs is having matted fur. Mats can cause the fur to pull against the skin and lead to painful irritations and even skin tearing. How would you feel if someone was pulling your hair all the time? A little grumpy? Matting can also cause infections and be a breeding ground for parasites. If your dog has become matted, please take it to a qualified groomer to have the mats removed. If there is infection present, you may need to take the dog to the vet to have the mats removed and the infection treated. Regular grooming can help prevent mats and keep your dog happy and healthy. Don’t let your dog experience the pain of matted fur.
